My name is Niall O' Brien. I come from the small parish of Kilcorney in County Cork. A beautiful scenic part of Ireland with many interesting sights to see, some of which are pictured on this site. I am of farming background with no writers in the family. My favourite poet is Patrick Kavanagh.

I have been writing poetry & stories since the age of ten. I have been published many times, receiving rave reviews on every occasion. I am presently compiling a collection of poems for my first book of poetry.  (Seeking Publisher)

I started PoetryGiftsIreland.com in response to the volume of requests for my poems from friends, relatives and complete strangers in Ireland, the UK, Australia and especially the United States. (Word of mouth). Asked why they want my material, all replied it's because of three things: (1) High standard (2) Relative and easy to understand (3) it's Irish. I certainly believe Irish poets have an unequaled way with words. We cannot be equaled.

I think everybody’s secret wish is to give or receive a ‘one of’ Gift. A unique present no one else in the world can own or buy.
